Electrical Travel Group Estimator Compensation & Benefits

Total compensation for the Electrical Travel Group Estimator in Chicago, IL is between $70,000 and $105,000 depending on experience, and may be more than this range for candidates with exceptional experience and successful history of performance.

Electrical Travel Group Estimator Duties & Responsibilities

  • *This position requires travel
  • Interpret engineering documents
  • Manage projects on estimates you win
  • Handle bids from “cradle to grave”
  • Perform necessary research to produce accurate, complete and competitive pricing
  • Communicate with customers to properly define the project scope, address deficiencies and negotiate pricing
  • Read and thoroughly understand prints, specifications, contract documents and various electrical systems
  • Lead or attend in project meetings, pre-bid meetings and conference calls
  • Complete electrical material takeoffs through the use of software
  • Collaborate with engineers, automation specialists, and I&C Technicians to obtain clarification on plans and specifications for estimates identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, materials, and labor expense
  • Manage submittals, budgets, schedules, and all other aspects necessary for a successful project

Electrical Travel Group Estimator Qualifications

  • Strong employment stability
  • Must have experience working on teams
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience estimating electrical construction projects with an electrical contractor
  • Must have experience estimating and managing automation and industrial projects and control systems
  • Must have experience successfully and accurately handling bids from takeoff to final presentation
  • Design Build experience
  • Must be able to manage projects on all bids one
  • Knowledge of NEC and local codes and requirements 
  • Bachelor’s degree
