Job Description


Base salary is between $55K-$70K depending on experience. Base salary may be more than this range for candidates with exceptional experience and successful history of performance.

Delta Construction Partners is a national executive search firm for the nation’s premier electrical contractors and industry professionals. Delta has been retained to conduct a search to fill the above position for a confidential client in their Chicago, Illinois office.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate project plans and specifications, bid documents, and other relevant project documents to identify what is needed for a project and to create a bid proposal
  • Calculate the cost of electrical construction based on reviewing and evaluating available documents
  • Identify any inconsistent issues, conflicts, and other problems in the bid documents
  • Identify strategies to create bid advantages
  • Review and evaluate bid documents to determine scope of work and profitability for the company
  • Prepare RFI questions to resolve conflicts and problems
  • Request material and equipment quotes from vendors and equipment
  • Review quotes to confirm adherence to quote requests and accuracy of quotes received
  • Prepare bid documents including specific scope letter for each project (“Blue Sheets” and “evaluations” with adjustments for buy-outs, labor rate, productivity, etc.)
  • Assist in preparing budget pricing
  • May attend estimating/sales meetings and project meetings to discuss bid status and present/solve problems

Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar studies/high school equivalent combined with field experience
  • Ability to self-plan ahead to meet required bid deadlines
  • Is proactive and will take action before potential problems become real problems
  • Must be a team player, positive, well-organized, and proactive force to support profit and growth of the company

Preferred but Not Necessary

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience with database estimating systems preferred, Accubid/Livecount a plus
  • A minimum of 3 years of electrical estimating experience on commercial and industrial projects is preferred
